#25 Post Advances To CACC Semifinals On Penalty Kicks, 4-1

Top-Seeded Post And Caldwell Play 110 Scoreless Minutes To Force PKs

WATERBURY, Conn. – The top-seeded Post University men's soccer team advanced to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) semifinals after it went 4-for-4 on penalty kicks. The Eagles and eighth-seeded Caldwell played 110 minutes of scoreless soccer to force the penalty kick shootout. Post took the shootout 4-1. Sophomore Andre Lindsay (Clarendon, Jamaica) made two saves in the shootout for the Eagles.
 
Post (12-3-4) opened the shootout with the first of four consecutive markers by junior Joe Baccielo (Startford, Conn.). After Lindsay stopped Facundo Zalazar's attempt for Caldwell, junior Kevin Ipina (Danbury, Conn.) gave the Eagles a 2-0 advantage in the shootout. After a Krzysztok Giezek (Southbury, Conn.) successful penalty kick gave Post a 3-1 advantage, Lindsay stopped Dylan Ross. Freshman Francisco Sastre (Sao Paulo, Brazil) netted the fourth and final goal in the shootout to lift Post into the conference semifinals.
 
Despite outshooting Caldwell (6-10-2) 23-6 in the match and Post with a 9-1 edge in corner kicks, the Eagles could not find the back of the net through 110 minutes. Senior Errol Reid (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) made two saves in 106:45 of action for Post.
 
Post will be in action when it takes on #5 Wilmington at noon on Friday, Nov. 2. The Wildcats advanced by virtue of a 3-2 victory at Bloomfield on Wednesday night. Admission to the CACC semifinals is $6 for adults and $3 for children, seniors and students with valid ID.
