Old Westbury, NY (September 4, 2011) Post University's women's soccer team scored three goals in the season opener, but it was not enough to top NYIT in a 5-3 contest to begin the 2011 season.
Danielle Charette scored the first goal of the season at 18:11 after rebounding a shot from NYIT keeper Kathryn Miller. Moments later at 22:48 NYIT's Heather Kasper responded to even the score.
At 42:31 Eryka Baez scored her first goal as an Eagle by chipping a shot over the head of the keeper from the 18. Once again NYIT did not take long to respond when at 44:32 Jessica Mangiaracina scored an unassisted goal tying the game at two heading into halftime.
5:24 into the second half, Jessica Mangiaracina struck once again giving NYIT a 3-2 lead. Just under three minutes later Maria Moreno scored the eventual game winner making it 4-2.
At 85:54, Post University's Sabrina Sinopoli scored on a header off a pass from Renel Dennis. That would be as close as the Eagles could get as at 88:14 Natali Arana scored the final goal of the game for NYIT.
