WATERBURY, Conn (July 19, 2011) A glance at LaMoy Field shows the progress being made by contractor HI Stone as Post University is in the midst of replacing its natural grass athletic field with a new synthetic field playing surface.
Last week the first steps were being made to establish a sub-grade at the field that will sit 10 inches below the final playing surface. Once a sub-grade is established, stone will be brought in to provide a solid base for the artificial field turf as well as contribute to its fast drying capabilities following heavy rain. Several tons of material has been removed from the site to make room for the new base material.
In the picture above, the edge of the multipurpose soccer, lacrosse, and football field is clearly defined by stakes as the overall layout of the field begins to come into focus.
The softball backstop of the old field has been removed and its dugouts have been repurposed by Post University's facilities department.
Below is the far corner of the field where a sub-grade has already been established in preparation for a final layer of stone before the installation of field turf.
