Men’s Soccer to Play Nyack for CACC Title Saturday

WATERBURY, Conn (November 4, 2011) The teams ranked No. 8 Post and No. 10 in the East Region will vie for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship on Saturday afternoon in men's soccer. The Eagles are the higher ranked of the two teams.

Post is coming off a 4-2 victory over Holy Family on Thursday to advance to the title game, the same team they defeated when the Eagles won the 2008 championship. Nyack won the title in 2009 by defeating Bloomfield and were the No. 7 seed in this year's tournament. The Warriors defeated Felician 3-1 in the semi-final.

The Eagles continue to be led by first all-conference selection center back Hylton Davis. Davis scored two penalty kick goals against Holy Family Thursday. Also picking up goals in the game were Joe Baccielo and second team all-conference selections Francis Eno, with each scoring their fifth of the season.

“We are really excited to be back in the championship match and the guys have truly earned the right to play for the title,” said Ted Haley, Eagles Head Coach. “We have had a target on our back since we were nationally ranked and won the regular season. The team has shown great resilience, endurance, and focus and we feel like we are peaking at the right time.”

Nyack is led by Felix Horn with 11 goals and three assists this season with two tallies coming in the semi-final game. Marco Likos has nine goals and five assists.

Warrior keeper Adrian Ibanez has made 89 saves this season while Errol Reid has 63 stops for the Eagles.

“Making the NCAA's is the true goal and we are hopeful that after tomorrow we have done enough to earn a selection,” added Haley.

Game time is set for noon on Saturday afternoon at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia.
