Late Goal Propels Eagles Over Philadelphia

Box Score

WATERBURY, Conn (October 15, 2011) Francis Eno found the back of the net with two minutes remaining to give the Eagles a thrilling 1-0 victory over Philadelphia at the newly resurfaced LaMoy Field Saturday afternoon.

Neither team had many chances in the first half, combining for five shots. The best shot for the Eagles came off a Korab Muaremi corner kick that was nearly headed in by Hylton Davis.

In the second half, both teams came out firing but nobody could put one in the net. It looked like the game was going to be heading to overtime until Joe Baccielo chipped the ball up to Eno, who got past a defender and drove it into the top corner of the goal as the Eagles sideline erupted.

Errol Reid kept the Rams off the board, tallying his second shutout of the year and first since a scoreless tie with Nyack earlier in the year. He finished with three saves in the game. Eno and Eltany Morais led the offense with two shot apiece.

The Eagles are ranked fifth in the east region with a record of 8-2-4 (7-1-1) on the year. They are also alone atop the CACC standings, holding a five point lead over Wilmington.

Post will be back in action on Saturday afternoon against Holy Family, who sit in third in the CACC, in their final home game of the season.
