Dennis Leads Eagles Over Bloomfield

WATERBURY, Conn (October 11, 2011) Renel Dennis scored two goals as the Eagles women's soccer team defeated Bloomfield Tuesday afternoon 4-1. The victory is the fifth in a row for the women, who have outscored their opponents 16-4 during the stretch.

The Eagles were down early when Jocelyn Prescott took a pass from Michelle Cadena at 16:21 to put Bloomfield ahead 1-0. Ten minutes later Megan Hansen found Dennis, who knottedthe score at 1-1, which it remained heading into the half.

As soon as the second half started, Danielle Charette passed it to Dennis who hit the back of the net to put the Eagles ahead for good. Charette and Elin Nyman would both add goals, off Brina Yanez assists, as the Eagles took control of the game winning 4-1.

“Danielle has been a real workhorse all season,” said head coach Matt Micros. “The two center-mids, Danielle and Brina [Yanez], have been real solid for us.”

Grace McConnell was lights out with three saves to preserve the victory. Post now stands at 6-5-0 (6-2-0) on the season and are third in the CACC standings.

The Eagles will have a tough match at home Saturday afternoon as the East's No. 6 ranked Philadelphia (11-1-1, 10-0-0 CACC) comes to Waterbury.
