Nyman Hat Trick Leads Eagles Over Wilmington

NEW CASTLE, DE (October 1, 2011) Despite being outshot 24-7, the Post University women's soccer team won its second straight match Saturday afternoon at Wilmington. Elin Nyman continues to be an offensive force, scoring three goals in the match to put her season total at 10.

The Eagles struck first on a Nyman breakaway at 35:39. Seven minutes later Renel Dennis got behind the defense and put one home to put the team up 2-0 heading into halftime.

Wilmington stormed back to in the second half with goals by Vikki Zipf and Penelope Fantis to knot the match 2-2.

A foul by the Wildcats at 69:46 led to a penalty shot, which Nyman made to put the Eagles ahead for good. She added some insurance at 85:45 with a goal off a pass from Sabrina Sinopoli. Grace McConnell finished with six saves.

“It's a four and a half hour ride down here. We were asleep for the first 15 minutes,” said Eagles head coach Matt Micros. “This team really believes in themselves and is finding ways to score. Elin and Renel are working great together.”

The Eagles will be back at home Wednesday afternoon to face Caldwell College.
