Post University's Golf Team Prepares for 2nd Annual Northeast Intercollegiate Championship
WATERBURY, Conn (September 17, 2010) Post University's golf team is preparing for their second tournament of the season this Sunday and Monday at the Tunxis Plantation Golf Course in Farmington. It is the second year the Eagles have hosted the tournament and it will be their only competition in Connecticut all season.
“This is one of the major tournaments for collegiate golf in the northeast,” said Pete Stevens, Post University Head Coach. “I expect our team to place in the top three even though we have three freshmen who will be competing. Although it is a young and untested team, with each tournament I expect to see the team get stronger and stronger.”
Coming off five straight CACC championships, the Eagles traveled to Piscataway, New Jersey for the Rutgers Invitational last week finishing tied for 9th against several Division I teams.
Sophomore Thomas Rees (75-71-73—219) led the Eagles with a fifteenth place effort. Two newcomers Oliver Hudak and Cody Ek made an immediate positive impact on the program. Post University captain and three-time CACC Golfer of the Year senior David McGregor* placed 57th in the season opener.
Last year, American International won the tournament, Wilmington was second, and LeMoyne was third.
