Men's Basketball Opens CACC Tournament at Bloomfield Tonight

WATEBURY, Conn (March 1, 2010) In a season plagued by injury, Mike Donnelly and a cast of three starting freshmen will head to Bloomfield tonight for the first round of the CACC tournament. Bloomfield has defeated Post University twice this season.

On February 13th , graduate student Jon Lucky broke his hand in the game against Holy Family taking an inside presence and 17.1 points per game out of the Eagle lineup. However, Donnelly made adjustments to focus on the speed and agility of his small guards.

In three must win games last week, junior Spencer Smith answered the call averaging 24 points and 4 steals per game. Freshman Trevon Hamlet held his ground in the paint scoring 20 points per game with 8 blocks.

The last time these two teams met in the playoffs was in 2008 when Post University was the number one seed and Bloomfield was ranked 4th.  That day in the Drubner Center the Deacons took a 90-85 double overtime victory. Tonight, the roles are reversed as Bloomfield is top ranked and the Eagles are 4th, with momentum on their side after having a winning six of their last eight games of the regular season.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm at Bloomfield.
