Golf Readies for Season Opener at the Johnny Palmer Classic

WATERBURY, Conn (February 15, 2010) Four-time defending CACC Golf Champions are preparing for their first tournament of the 2010 season, the Johnny Palmer Classic. The tournament will be played at the Old Northgate Country Club in New London, North Carolina.

“This is a great opportunity to get out of the snow and play against some of the finest Division II teams on a pristine golf course,” said Pete Stevens, Post University Head Golf Coach. “The three finishing holes on the Old North Gate course are perhaps the most challenging on the east coast."

The Eagles will be competing against Pfeiffer, Appalachian State, King College, United States Naval Academy, Anderson University, Erskine College, Bluefield State, and Lees LcRae College.

The tournament will be played on February 23rd and 24th. The Old North Gate Country Club is a 7,102 yard par 72 course. The Old North Gate Course is built on a two and a half mile peninsula and was designed by Tom Fazio in 1991. It had been repeatedly ranked as one of the best courses in North Carolina.
