Game Notes: Eagles tip-off season at Lincoln University on Friday

Game Notes:

Post University women's basketball season opener
Post University (0-0) vs.
Saint Rose College (0-0)
November 12, 2010 - 6 p.m.
Lincoln University, PA

It's Tip Off Time:

The Post University women's basketball team will open the lid on the 2010-11 season with two games in the James A. Richardson Tip-Off Classic at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania beginning on Friday.

The Eagles will challenge Saint Rose College at 6 pm Friday and then will face either host Lincoln University or Lock Haven University on Saturday.

They've Got Athletes:

The one thing that new Eagles head coach Alan Stekloff kept repeating in a preseason interview was how excited he was about the team's athleticism. Newcomers Diyasha Brewington and Kelli Reynolds, who spent last season at Division 1 Bryant University, are two big reasons for the coach's optimism. Reynolds was one of the key players on the volleyball team this season, and Brewington has proven she can handle the ball despite being listed as a 6-2 center.

Fresh Faces:

Joining Reynolds and Brewington will be freshmen Colleen Hanscom and Raven Wright-James, both of whom Stekloff expects to see of playing time this season. The head coach describes Hanscom, a 5-7 guard from Melrose, Mass., as the quickest player on the team. Wright-James, 5-8, of Middletown, Conn., is a versatile scorer who could see time at three or four different positions.

Scouting the Golden Knights:

Saint Rose is primed for an excellent 2010-11 season, with four starters and 11 letterwinners returning from a team that finished fifth in the 16-team Northeast-10. The Golden Knights return their starting backcourt, with senior Lindsey Timbrouck and junior Ashley Rath leading the way. Timbrouck finished second in the Northeast-10 with 5.3 assists per game last season, and has a chance to break the school's all-time assists record by the time she finishes her career at Saint Rose.
