Men's Basketball Hosts Bridgeport Tonight
WATERBURY, Conn (January 21, 2010) Post University's Men's Basketball team hosts the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights at the Drubner Center this evening. Tip-off is slated for 7:30pm.
Scouting Post University:
Last time out the Eagles took their first conference win on the road against Concordia 77-68. The win improved Post University to 5-11 (1-5 CACC). Freshman Trevon Hamlet scored a game-high 20 points five rebounds in the Eagle win.
Sanders Completes the Eagle Hat Trick:
Nyheem Sanders of Post University is this week's CACC Rookie of the Week. The accolades come after scoring 19 points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal against Franklin Pierce. Sanders shot 6-for-15 from the field, 5-for-6 from the FT line and did not commit a turnover in 36 minutes of action. He is the third Eagle to win the award this season.
Scouting Bridgeport:
The Purple Knights have had no time to rest coming into tonight's game after defeating Mercy 99-75 at home and improving to 10-7, (8-2 East Coast Conference). In the game Bridgeport had six players with double double scoring, led by Dave Boykin with 18.
By scoring 99 points, it was the most points scored in a game this season as the team shot 57.4% from the floor, adding 13-for-21 (61.9%) shooting for three. Senior Kirk Williams leads the Purple Knights in scoring with 16.4 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game.
Tale of the Tape:
Post University and Bridgeport met on November 20th earlier in the season with the Eagles taking an 81-77 point road win. Over the last 5 meetings the Purple Knights have a 3-2 edge over the Post University. This season is the first time in five years that the non-conference rivals will meet twice in one season, and the first time they have played in Waterbury.
