Post University Golf to Host Inaugural Northeast Intercollegiate Golf Tournament in September

Waterbury, Conn. (September  14, 2009) –Post University will host the Inaugural Northeast Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at Wintonbury Hills Golf Course in Bloomfield,  Sept. 19-21. Seventeen teams are expected to compete.

“The Wintonbury Hills Golf Course has tricky pin placements on undulating greens that are closely cut,” said Head Golf Coach Pete Stevens. “This will be a good test of golf for every participant.”

Post University will host the three-day event Sept. 19-21, with assistance from Wintonbury Hills Head Golf Pro Doug Juhasz. Day one will be a practice round, followed by two days of tournament play. It will also be the first glance at the 4-time defending CACC Championship winning Post University Eagles.

The Eagles return all but two players for the fall season.  Senior Lee Wankyln, junior David McGregor*, and sophomore Gavin Wilson will all return.  A newcomer to the team is Thomas Reeves, whose skills will keep Post University as one of the strongest teams in the region. Former player Jamie Blake has returned as an assistant coach.

Of the 17 teams scheduled to compete, three collegiate conferences will be represented in the East Region of the NCAA.

The tournament will begin Sunday morning at 11am using split tees on both days. On Monday, play begins at 7:30am.
