BRIDGEPORT, Conn (December 29, 2009) The St. Anselm Hawks defeated Post University's Men's Basketball team in double overtime 107-103, Tuesday afternoon in Bridgeport. The Eagles are now 3-7 on the season. 

Jon Lucky tallied a game high 36 points with 5 rebounds. Trevon Hamlet netted 24 points and 12 rebounds while senior Spencer Smith scored 17, pulling down 10 rebounds for Post University. St. Anselm's Greg Vetrano scored 33 points and Thomas Baudinet had 23 points. 

At halftime, the Eagles had a 37-34 point lead. With 19 seconds to play in regulation, Garvin McAlister picked up his fourth personal foul of the game putting Vetrano on the line who cut the Eagle lead to 81-79. Smith was fouled ten seconds later making one of two. With only 7 seconds to play, Baudinet connected from long range sending the game to overtime tied at 82.

The first overtime period saw the Hawks jump to a 3 point advantage. After two made free throws from freshman Larry Grant, Hamlet tipped in a missed layup from Smith, giving Post University an 88-87 edge. St. Anselm's Vetrano hit two more from the line, as did Hamlet making it 90-89. Hawk Pat Luptowski tied the game from the charity stripe with 55 seconds to play sending the game into double overtime.

In the final overtime, St. Anselm went on a 4-0 run that built to a 99-93 point lead with 1:35 to play. With 5 seconds remaining, Luptowski hit two more free throws. The Eagles quickly brought the ball up court as Lucky hit a three at the buzzer making the final score 107-104.

Post University will be back in action Wednesday afternoon at 3pm against Bentley in the second day of the ECAC Holiday Tournament.
