HOW IT HAPPENED
Eagles midfielder Eliass Elfasoukhi opened scoring for all players at 18:54. After a Mustangs foul, Elfasoukhi took the free kick for the Eagles, his shot soaring high into the top left corner of Monroe's net, past the outstretched, diving arms of Monroe's goalie, Thomas Lancaster.
Just two and a half minutes later, the Mustangs' own Peterson Aquino equalized after a cross from Matthew Murray-Smith put him in convenient scoring position, dodging an Eagle defender's slide along the way.
Six minutes later at 27:07, the Morocco native, Elfasoukhi, scored his sixth goal of the season, rolling the ball past Lancaster with help from Marcos Rodriguez and Mirai Sato. Elfasoukhi and Sato have connected for a score twice this season.
Starting the second half at Skidelsky Field, Elfasoukhi opened fire on the Mustangs once again, but this time Division I transfer Miguel Plaza connected for his first goal of the season in the 57th minute.
The last score of the match, but first of his season individually, came from Francisco Madeira during the 89th minute. Madeira broke away on a sprint toward Lancaster's net, too quick for the Mustangs' last ditch slide effort as his shot arced over the head of Lancaster.
The Eagles fired seven shots on goal throughout the game in contrast with the Mustangs' four. Eagles goalie Francisco Pinochet had three saves over the full 90 minutes, joined by the endurance of Pedro Vercosa, Lukas Glade and Miguel Plaza who also played the full length.
WHO'S NEXT
The Eagles will return home to LaMoy Field on Saturday, October 3 to face Holy Family University at 7 p.m. The Tigers are currently fourth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, directly behind the Eagles. Holy Family will look to snap a two-game losing streak versus Post.
