HOW IT HAPPENED
Dimaio got her day started right away, beating senior goalie
Niky Johnson, who made her second straight start, with a shot just 1:29 into the contest, which was the first of five first-quarter goals that the Purple Knights would score. Senior attacker
Maddy Noonan responded nearly seven minutes later with her third goal of the season from fellow senior attacker
Rylee Patfield, marking the only time in the affair in which the two sides would be tied. From there, eight straight goals by the Bridgeport offense flipped the game in their favor for good, as Dimaio and Stuart accounted for four of those eight goals during the run.
All four of the man-up goals that Bridgeport scored on Tuesday came during their 8-0 run on a day where the Eagles drew seven cards, including three in the second alone, featuring a two-minute unreleasable penalty to graduate midfielder
Alyssa Hebb. Patfield would snap the scoring drought for Post with 3:49 left in the second quarter, starting a stretch into the third where the Eagles scored four of the next five goals, pulling back within five, 10-5, after senior midfielder
Anna D'Angelo scored at the 10:31 mark of the third.
After the two teams exchanged goals, Stuart would go on a 3-0 run with Post back within five, 12-7, in the fourth quarter, ending their hopes of a comeback victory as she finished with her five goals followed by Dimaio pocketing her fifth of the game inside of two minutes to go in the 16-7 victory for the Purple Knights. In net, Johnson would make six saves for the Eagles, while freshman goalie Juliana Reyes made 11 saves on 18 shots taken by Post.
In addition to Dimaio's big offensive game, she also put in work defensively with six caused turnovers, five draw controls, and three ground balls. Junior defender Kaley Maxwell added five caused turnovers and a team-leading seven ground balls of her own for a Purple Knight defense that had 21 total caused turnovers, compared to just 15 for the Eagles, who were led by senior defender
Tymmarie Grom's five caused turnovers and five ground balls. However, it was sophomore midfielder
