WATERBURY, Conn. – It was another day of walk-offs for Post University Softball as the Eagles had another come-from-behind victory at home in game one against Dominican (N.Y.) on Wednesday, taking a 7-6 decision in eight innings on an RBI single from graduate infielder
Nyla Sapia, before dominating in game two for the sweep. While the second game would not be your typical walk-off hit, sophomore infielder
Alexandra Bisceglia sent the Eagles to a five-inning mercy rule victory with her RBI single in the 8-0 win.
Post now sits at 6-4 in conference play so far this season and in a top-four spot in the conference standings, which means if the CACC Tournament started today, they would host the first round of playoff games at LaMoy Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Post University 7, Dominican (N.Y.) 6 (8 Innings)
It was another comeback victory in game one for the Eagles, as they stormed back from an early 3-0 deficit against the Lady Chargers to secure their fifth conference victory of the campaign. Sophomore right-hander
Meghan McGurk would allow three runs in the first inning, two of which were unearned as an error by freshman infielder
Haley DiBona, which scored the first run allowed in the frame to continue. Sophomore outfielder Victoria Iorio delivered the two-run, two-out single for Dominican (N.Y.), one of her two hits in the contest.
Sophomore pitcher Gianna Longo would go the distance in the extra-inning affair, throwing 153 pitches in the 7-6 decision. A passed ball allowed by junior catcher Isabella Mitterando allowed Post's first run to come in during the second, but senior outfielder Emily Angulo would get that run back in the third with her RBI single off of McGurk, before the bats went cold for the Lady Chargers until the seventh.
In the process, graduate catcher
Sydney Jones would double home a run, and a walk issued to Bisceglia chipped the deficit down to one run, 4-3, in the fourth, before an interesting sixth inning. Loading the bases with nobody out via two walks and a hit batter, Post seemed prime to take the lead, and another passed ball seemed to do just that.
However, freshman utility player
Tatiana Martinez would break home and would be ruled out just ahead of tapping the edge of the bag. In that same at-bat for sophomore outfielder
Isabella Oliver, a wild pitch by Longo allowed the game-tying run to score before she would get out of the inning.
Walks would haunt the Eagles in the seventh too as McGurk loaded the bases up with two outs on walks and hit batters, leading to graduate right-hander
Katelyn Lipsky being brought in to relieve her. On a low line drive to center, Oliver looked to make the diving catch on Mitterando's hit, but it would pop out of her glove, allowing two runs to score as Dominican (N.Y.) retook the lead, 6-4.
Down but never out, a two-out walk by Longo was the catalyst for a two-out, two-run triple by Martinez, as the dying ball could not be corralled by graduate outfielder Deja Robinson. After Longo escaped the inning, Post would finish things off in the eighth as a lead-off walk to Bisceglia eventually led to her getting on third with two outs before Sapia knocked her home with a hard infield single to the left side. For Sapia, it was her second walk-off hit in the last two weeks, as well as the third overall for the Eagles in the same span.
Game 2: Post University 8, Dominican (N.Y.) 0 (5 Innings)
From start to finish, the Eagles would dominate game two as Lipsky picked up her second win of the day and seventh of the season in the circle for Post. The graduate student spun five shutout innings for her first shutout victory as an Eagle, allowing just two hits while striking out two batters and walking one on 50 pitches. Her offense would immediately reward her in the first with a two-run, two-out double by junior utility player
Allysa Calabrese off of Iorio, who got the start for the Lady Chargers, to put Post ahead, 2-0.
Iorio would remain winless in the circle this season for Dominican (N.Y.) as she fell to 0-8 following her four innings of work in which she allowed six runs (four earned) on seven hits with three walks and a wild pitch. Four more runs would come across the plate for the Eagles in the fourth as Biceglia singled home a run, which scored via an error, as part of her 2-for-2 day with an RBI, a run scored, and two walks at the dish. Oliver would be the only other multi-hit player for Post as she tripled in Bisceglia, then scored on a wild pitch during her 2-for-3 performance with an RBI and two runs scored.
Martinez, who had the big two-run hit in the first game, made it three total RBIs in the doubleheader with her fifth-inning RBI single, which led to Bisceglia's at-bat moments later in which she rocketed a ball down the third base line for the game-winning run in the 8-0 shutout win for Post.
