Women's Flag Football Picks Up First Collegiate Win in Program History in 53-7 Victory Over Roxbury Community College

WATERBURY, Conn. –  It was a dominant game from start to finish for Post University Women's Flag Football as the Eagles earned their first collegiate victory as a program with a dominant 53-7 win over Roxbury Community College in the first of two games from LaMoy Field on Sunday afternoon.

THE BASICS

Post University 53, Roxbury Community College 7

Post University (1-2)

Roxbury Community College (0-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED
From the very start, it was all Post as freshman running back Anna Acevedo-Lopez rushed in the first touchdown in program history with a five-yard run to give the Eagles the lead as they would score the first 40 points of the contest, all in the first half.

Less than six minutes later, it was freshman wide receiver Aniyah Booker scampering into the end zone with a five-yard score, as Post was off to the races with a 14-0 lead that extended to 21 points at the end of one. Junior quarterback Delia Kotsaftis threw the first touchdown pass in program history, a 26-yard strike to sophomore wide receiver Hannah Vancise.

Recording the first pick-six in program history, Booker picked off Jaylene Tatro and took it back to the house for a 30-yard score as Post continued to pile it on with two more touchdowns on a rush from Kotsaftis and a five-yard pass from her to freshman wide receiver Rihanna Boland.

With Booker now at quarterback, she would throw for two touchdown passes in the second half, with one from five yards out to freshman wide receiver Chloe Wilson and another 37-yard ball to Vancise, mixed between the lone score of the day for the Tigers. That one score came on a 48-yard pass from Tatro to Kendra O'Brien, as Tatro finished the day 12-for-31 with 124 passing yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions.

The quarterback duo of Kotsaftis and Booker for the Eagles was 13-for-16 with 146 passing yards and four touchdowns combined, while the ground game generated 171 rushing yards on 22 attempts. In the air, Vancise had a pair of touchdown grabs for 63 total yards, while defensively, Boland closed with a team-best two interceptions and two pass breakups.
