HOW IT HAPPENED
Freshman right-hander
Hector Cuevas got the start for the Eagles, taking his first loss of the season as he lasted just a third of an inning, allowing five runs on one hit with three walks and a hit batter. The Tiger offense manufactured six first-inning runs en route to seven unanswered runs to start the affair, two of which came via walks. Sophomore catcher Perry Chetney started the scoring for Holy Family with his RBI single in the first, while senior infielder Christian Mote ended the first-inning scoring with a two-run double.
Scoring a run on one of five errors in the game for Post was sophomore utility player Jalen David, as he stole third, but an errant throw from freshman infielder
Andrew Rhymestine allowed David to scamper home to make it 7-0. The only run of the game for the Eagles came in the second on an RBI single from Keller off of graduate right-hander Ryan McLaughlin, cutting the deficit to six runs at that time, 7-1.
McLaughlin would get his second win on the mound this season for the Tigers, throwing six innings in which he allowed that one run on five hits with eight strikeouts and two walks. Sophomore right-hander Paul Miazza closed out the 10-run mercy rule win with a scoreless seventh inning, striking out a batter and allowing one hit in the 12-1 win for Holy Family.
As a team, Post pitchers allowed 12 runs (10 earned) on just eight hits with 10 walks, four hit batters, and four strikeouts across four different pitchers in the defeat.
