MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Senior catcher Manny Contreras was one of six Post University Baseball players to record a multi-hit game on Thursday night against Franklin Pierce University in the first matchup of their Myrtle Beach, South Carolina trip. Contreras finished with two home runs and three RBIs for the Eagles, who fell to 0-4 to start the season with a 19-9 loss to the Ravens at Ebbets FieldĀ

HOW IT HAPPENED
Junior catcher Curt Boyd got the offense going for Franklin Pierce with his RBI single off of senior right-hander Justin Portes, before the Eagles took their first and only lead of the evening in the second inning with a four-run frame. RBI singles by both graduate infielder Hunter Keller and sophomore infielder Gill Dolan around a passed ball issued to Boyd, and an RBI double from sophomore outfielder Jayren Foster gave Post that advantage, which would be short-lived as the Ravens punched back with 14 runs over the next two innings.Ā

The offensive onslaught was started by sophomore infielder Rafael Rodriguez Rosa's three-run home run off of Portes in the third, tying the game at four all. Portes would last only three innings, allowing six runs on five hits with four strikeouts and three walks. He was pulled after walking back-to-back batters to start the fourth for sophomore right-hander Logan Pulitano, who lasted 1 2/3 innings, getting tagged for nine runs (five earned) on three hits with seven walks, two strikeouts, and a wild pitch.Ā

Post's defense totaled four errors and two passed balls, leading to six unearned runs, while the Ravens were led by a 4-for-5 game from sophomore infielder Jacob Roque, who had two triples and two RBIs. Franklin Pierce's offense had three players finish with three RBIs in Boyd, Rodriguez Rosa, and senior infielder Ivan Arias, while sophomore right-hander Lane LeClair came in for relief for senior right-hander Johnny Ruggiero Jr. to pick up his first collegiate win on the mound.

After Ruggiero Jr. allowed seven runs (six earned) in four innings, LeClair shut down the Post offense for the next five innings, striking out 12 batters while allowing only two runs on five hits with a walk in the 19-9 win for the Ravens.Ā
