TAMPA, Fla. – Graduate left-hander BJ Bailey threw six scoreless innings for #1 University of Tampa in the three-game series finale for Post University Baseball against the Spartans on Sunday afternoon in Florida, as the Eagles were shut out, 9-0, to close out their first of four trips this spring.

#1 University of Tampa (8-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sophomore outfielder Jayren Foster recorded the only hit of the game for Post in the third inning with a leadoff single against Bailey, before only six other players reached base for the Eagles via three walks, two hit batters, and an error by the University of Tampa. Bailey's start saw him strike out five batters in those six innings while allowing the lone hit to Foster and one walk.

Junior right-handers Alex Laiche and Oscar Hernandez closed out the final three innings, with Laiche going two innings in which he allowed a walk while striking out five batters and hitting one. Hernandez, in his lone inning of work, struck out two Eagle hitters to go along with a walk, a hit batter, and a wild pitch in the 9-0 win for the Spartans.

Offensively, senior catcher Jhoander Irigoyen continued his big weekend with a 3-for-4 performance and a team-leading two RBIs with one walk and a run scored. Senior outfielders Jordan Evans and Jake Books also each had two-hit games, with Books having an RBI and run scored. Despite winning by nine runs, the University of Tampa manufactured just two extra-base hits via Books' solo home run and a double from senior first baseman Gunnett Carlson, scattered among their 12 hits in the game.
