HOW IT HAPPENED
As the first period went underway at M&T Bank Arena, the Bobcats came out ferociously, taking any shot Post's defense gave them. Avery Bairos scored the first goal of the game at 3:14 in the first period after the Bobcats' offense had already fired six shots at Eagles goalie, Alex Young.
The Bobcats would not end their prowl there – they took 28 shots in the first period alone, contrary to the Eagles' three. In the faceoff circle, Quinnipiac kept up their advantage in a 19-4 discrepancy.
Just four minutes and five seconds into the second period, the Bobcats continued their rampage as Ella Johnson scored her second goal of the season. Then, at 10:14 on a 5-on-3 power-play opportunity, Ilsa Lindaman scored Quinnipiac's sixth goal, ending the penalty of one Eagle. Thirty seconds later, Aynsley D'Ottavio scored her second goal of the game, ending the second Eagles penalty.
Freshman goalie Anna Dosenbach played the last period of play for the Eagles. The Bobcats went on to score two more goals in the third period, totaling eight different goal scorers in the game, all unanswered by the Eagles.
Post took eight shots throughout the game to Quinnipiac's 64. Young saved 41 of them, putting her save percentage at .844 for the game and an impressive .879 on the season.
