SHELTON, Conn. – For 56 minutes of action, junior goalie Jaydn Weiser had Post University Women's Ice Hockey's number between the pipes. Only four minutes away from her third shutout of the season, junior forward
Jodie Rose turned the affair on its head, beating Weiser top shelf to force overtime, where junior defenseman
Emma Hoen sealed the comeback win for the Eagles, 2-1, against Assumption University in their return from winter break on Friday afternoon at home.

HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a game that on paper showed the Greyhounds dominating from start to finish with a gaudy 38-15 edge in shots on goal, as Post never had more than five shots against Weiser in any of the frames. Meanwhile, senior goalie
Hannah Saunders made 10-plus saves in each period of regulation, topping out at 37 for the game en route to her seventh win of the season in net for the Eagles.
The first two periods saw neither team find the back of the net, but Assumption held a 24-8 advantage in shots, including five shots across three power plays through the first 40 minutes of action, in which Saunders stood tall between the pipes. In all, the Greyhounds would have three power plays in the game, as the Post penalty kill went a perfect 3-for-3 in such situations.
Junior forward Caroline Lilley would score the first goal for either side in the early stages of the third on the back end of both teams being assessed two-minute penalties, leading to a four-on-four session. The initial shot from Lilley was smothered by Saunders near the left pipe, but as she went to the ice, would trickle into the net to give Assumption the 1-0 lead, which looked to hold up as the defense continued to hold strong.
That was until a costly turnover from the Greyhounds led to Rose picking up a loose puck in the offensive zone, moving from left to right and firing to the right side of Weiser's head for the equalizer with 3:41 remaining in regulation. Once again in overtime, Rose was pivotal to the game-winning goal from Hoen, winning the faceoff that led to the odd-man rush in which senior forward
Maddy Noonan hit Hoen with a pass during a two-on-one sequence, flicking it under the crossbar just 13 seconds into the sudden-death three-on-three session, giving Post a come-from-behind victory, 2-1, in overtime.
