Canady Scores in 4-1 Loss for Men's Ice Hockey at Westfield State

WESTFIELD, Mass. –  Sophomore defenseman Aidan Canady scored his third goal of the season, extending his point streak to three consecutive games for Post University Men's Ice Hockey on Friday afternoon on the road against Westfield State University. However, outside of the goal for Canady, the Eagle offense would be held in check by the Owls in a 4-1 loss that saw senior forward Cooper Board record three assists for Westfield State.

THE BASICS

Post University 1, Westfield State University 4

Post University (3-9-1)

Westfield State University (10-4-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED
While the Owls would have four different goal scorers, the one consistent part of their offensive game would be Board, recording the secondary assists on the last three goals that Westfield State scored in their victory. Junior forward Emile Pichette also finished with a multi-point game via two assists, both primary ones, on the second and third goals of the affair, in which Board picked up the second assist.

Senior forward Nicolas Coppola broke the scoreless tie in the second period with his goal just over seven-and-a-half minutes in, starting a run of three consecutive goals for the Owls between the second and third periods. Canady's goal would come with 4:55 remaining in regulation, cutting the Post deficit down to two goals, 3-1, with the help of freshman defenseman James Hope and senior forward Hugh McGuigan

Minutes later, senior forward Brett Williams would quell any chance of a comeback for the Eagles with his goal inside of a minute left, sending Westfield State to their 4-1 win. In 59:33 of action, senior goalie Benjamin Cunneen made 31 saves, while sophomore goalie Aiden Winslow stopped 36 of the 37 shots he faced from Post to pick up his eighth win of the year.
