WATERBURY, Conn. – Senior goalkeeper Stella Paton made nine saves in net for Dominican (N.Y.), spoiling the first regular season match under the lights at LaMoy Field for Post University Women's Soccer, who fell at home on Tuesday night, 2-0. While the Eagles played a preseason game at night, this was the first time any athletic program in school history had played a night game on LaMoy Field after the newly installed lights went in this past summer.

HOW IT HAPPENED
A fast start for Post saw them manufacture two shots on goal against Paton within the first 24 minutes of action before junior forward Jessie Maraia scored in the 28th minute on the first shot on goal of the match for the Lady Chargers against junior goalkeeper
Aryn Nisbet. Dominican (N.Y.) would only get two shots on goal against Nisbet, both of which would find the back of the net to make the difference in the affair. Maraia flicked the ball over a sliding Nisbet after getting it in the slot on two touch passes from freshman defender Asia Lebon and sophomore midfielder Emilie Stochkel for the score.
Junior midfielder
Audrey Cadman would nearly have the equalizer in the 36th minute as she had a couple of opportunities down the stretch of the first half that just went high or wide of the goal mouth, in addition to the one save Paton made in that sequence of events. Both teams were tied at five shots even after 45 minutes, but Paton was forced to make three saves for the Lady Chargers, while Nisbet's only shot faced was Maraia's score.
A fast start to the second half saw Cadman take a few more cracks at the game-tying goal within the first five minutes of play resuming, as she wound up finishing the match with three total shots, one of which was on goal. Shortly after, freshman midfielder Penny Knott nearly made it a two-goal game with her shot off the crossbar, but eventually, on a corner kick in the 57th minute, Dominican (N.Y.) would get the breathing room they needed from freshman defender Isabella Mack. Off a corner kick from freshman forward Shelby Parks, a scramble on the right side of the goal led to a host of players jockeying for the ball before Mack was able to push it across the line to extend the Lady Charger lead to 2-0.
Despite several chances down the stretch for the Eagles, Paton would stand tall in net as Post finished the match, rifling off 19 shots to only 12 shots for Dominican (N.Y.) overall, including a 14-7 edge in the second half alone, as well as a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal overall. While Paton finished with her nine saves, Nisbet finished with zero as the Eagle defense warded off several shot attempts from reaching the junior between the pipes.
