HOW IT HAPPENED
An aggressive start to the match saw Post have several chances to beat senior goalkeeper Becca Schultz, who was busy in net, making six saves for the Wildcats as the Eagles outshot Daemen by a 12-6 margin in the opening 45 minutes of action. With those six shots on goal, Post already had their most shots on goal for a single game this season and would end the day with 10 total after manufacturing four in the second half for a total of 10 in the match.
Velasquez's goal would come in the 51st minute after a turnover near midfield saw her turn towards the offensive side of the field and take out the do-it-yourself kit. Spinning around a defender or two, Velasquez unloaded a shot underneath the crossbar to give the Eagles their first goal and lead of the season with her unassisted goal.
The lead would last eight minutes before sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Wright was fed a pass from the right side, beating junior goalkeeper
Aryn Nisbet with the shot on the left side of the goal mouth. Senior forward Kylie Miranto and junior midfielder Victoria DiCarlo were credited with the assists, with Miranto ending up being a part of all three of Daemen's goals, which came in an 18-minute span. After assisting on the first two goals, she would use sophomore forward Chloe Cardone and freshman midfielder Marisa Rickard to score her eighth goal of the season, giving the Wildcats a two-goal lead.
Not going away quietly, junior forward
Jordyn Calas would get taken down in the box, leading to graduate defender
Alyanna Beaudoin's penalty kick goal, giving the Eagles new life in the 80th minute, trailing by just one. Post would be unable to mount another shot against Schultz in the final 10 minutes of the match, dropping their fifth match of the season, 3-2.
