Soarin' Beyond the Sport is a series in which members of the Post University Athletic Communications Team sit down with student-athletes across all the varsity athletic programs offered at Post University to learn more about interesting stories about the players off the field, court, ice, etc., in a short interview format. All the interview questions, filming, editing, and write-ups are done by the featured member of the Athletic Communications Team to help them gain new experiences in a variety of important aspects in the field.
In this episode, Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant Grace Glasrud talks with senior right-handed pitcher Brennan Holligan from Post University Baseball about his experience getting into Baseball, his team's trip to the Little League World Series growing up, and his memories of playing in the big dance as well as the CACC Championship in 2024.
WATERBURY, Conn. --Â Senior, right-handed pitcher,
Brennan Holligan has had a ball and bat in his hand for the larger majority of his life. He has seen many accolades and successes from being a CACC Champion in 2024, being named to multiple All-East Region teams, to earning his 200th career strikeout halfway through his senior campaign. But these were not all the highlights of his long baseball career, specifically the Little League World Series, an international youth tournament, that helped shaped Holligan into the athlete he is today.
The Little League World Series is a baseball tournament for boys ages 10-12, with eight international teams and eight United States teams competing for the championship in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania when he played in it back in 2014. Holligan recalled his time leading up to the tournament and in the tournament itself, remembering it vividly. Being from Nevada, Holligan mentioned how that was the first time his community had a team make it to the prestigious tournament, remembering the final out thrown to reach the tournament, getting emotional at such a young age, realizing how important it is.
When asked about the overall tournament experience, Holligan remembered how exciting it was going through the facilities and being asked for his autograph, even though at that age he did not have one yet. He also remembered how intriguing and inspiring it was to see other countries, and how those young athletes played the same sport as him, but somehow it was a different ball game, as the culturally differences between the United States teams and International teams was something he recalled during the event.Â
