HOW IT HAPPENED
Freshmen right-handers Devin Brandley and Delaney Alix combined to throw 11 total innings of shutout ball for the Rams, holding the Eagles to just six hits on the afternoon. Alix's start in game one saw her allow two hits and record 10 strikeouts without walking a batter, while Brandley had a walk and a strikeout to go along with her four hits allowed in game two. Sapia and Tompkins were the only two Post players to have two total hits between the two games, as all six hits by the Eagles were singles.
The second hit of the day for Tompkins, which came in the fourth inning of game two, also coincided with Post's lone baserunner to reach scoring position after Sapia had led off the frame with a single off of Brandley. Defensively, the Eagles finished the doubleheader having committed six total errors, three in each game, making it four consecutive games in which they have had three-plus errors after coming off four of their previous six games without committing one.
Jefferson's offense was primarily led by senior infielder Bridget Shields, who went 5-for-7 overall with a double, two RBIs, and three runs scored. But despite having 23 hits, the Rams only had six extra-base hits, with four of those plating a total of six runs compared to 10 singles leading to eight runs on an afternoon where their offense generated 20 total runs.
Losing 8-0 and 12-0, this was the first time that Post was held scoreless in both games of a doubleheader against Jefferson in the all-time series, which the Eagles own by a 23-14 margin despite losing the last six matchups.

WHO'S NEXT
Closing out their fourth straight day of games, Post University finishes their Philadelphia trip with a doubleheader against Goldey-Beacom College tomorrow morning starting at 11:00 AM.
