HOW IT HAPPENED
Junior midfielder Emily Stuart led the Purple Knights with four goals on the day, getting the scoring started for Bridgeport, who took a 3-0 lead in the first 5 1/2 minutes of the game. Graduate midfielder Tereza Kreuzova scored the next two goals on that opening 3-0 run en route to her three-goal day as part of 17 goals scored by Bridgeport in the 11-goal victory, which snapped a three-game losing streak in the process.
Breaking up that run was junior midfielder
Anna D'Angelo, who broke her five-game streak without scoring a goal, before Stuart tallied her second goal of the first quarter to send the visitors into the second frame with a three-goal edge, 4-1. Junior defender
Paige Pipher, scoring her first of two goals to give her a team-leading six goals on the season, cut the Post deficit down to two goals to start the second, 4-2, the lowest it would be in the affair before the ensuing 3-0 run by Bridgeport.
Hebb looked to give the Eagles some momentum coming out of the halftime break, recording her second goal of the game just over four minutes into the third quarter, but eight of the next 10 goals overall would go the way of the Purple Knights to help them pull away with an eight-goal advantage. Post's biggest run would come with a 2-0 stretch towards the end of the third, briefly making it a six-goal game, 11-5, before the Purple Knights went back to work on the offensive end.
In the 17-6 defeat, Post had their best offensive showing with 23 shots overall and 16 shots on goal, while graduate goalie
Lauren Bain had 12 saves across her three quarters of action. Freshman goalie
Aviana Ramos played the final 15 minutes, allowing four goals without making a stop, while senior goalie Jacklyn Mellia picked up the win for Bridgeport with only six goals allowed and 10 saves made. Senior midfielder Max McDermott also had a hat-trick along with Stuart and Kreuzova, with her three goals and two assists for five points.
