Jessica Krupnikoff Scores Second Goal of the Season in Women's Lacrosse Loss to Wilmington

WATERBURY, Conn. -- Graduate midfielder Jessica Krupnikoff netted her second goal of the season and the lone goal of the game for Post University Women's Lacrosse as the Eagles were unable to keep pace with Wilmington University on a rainy Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field. Junior midfielder Ella Royer led the Wildcats with seven goals en route to the 23-1 victory for the road team as Post fell to 0-6 on the year and 0-6 in conference play.

THE BASICS

Post University 1, Wilmington University 23

Post University (0-6, 0-6 CACC)

Wilmington University (10-4, 5-1 CACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Holding a commanding 41-7 margin in shots and 28-4 edge in shots on goal, the Wildcats jumped out to a 12-0 lead after 15 minutes as Royer tallied four goals in the first quarter alone on her way to the seven-goal outing. Junior attacker Alea Javorowsky also had four goals in the opening frame, while senior midfielder Tristan Holdsworth had a hat trick, all of which came against graduate goalie Lauren Bain, who played only the first quarter and made five saves.

Royer would add three more in the second quarter, while Holdworth added another, and sophomore defender Eden Ward, along with junior midfielder Megan Molinelli, each scored as well to bring the Wildcats into the halftime break with a 17-0 shutout. Freshman goalie Allison Schiavone played only the first half for Wilmington, making two saves to pick up her sixth win between the pipes this season.

In all, four players for Wilmington finished with hat tricks in Royer (seven goals), Holdsworth (five goals), Ward (four goals), and Javorowsky (four goals), while junior attacker Michaella Cook tacked on two of her own, and Molinelli tallied the other. As a team, the Wildcats had 41 points via their 23 goals and 18 assists as sophomore midfielder Mia Schultz led them with four assists in the win.

The lone goal of Post's day came from Krupnikoff in the third quarter with the help of junior attacker Niky Johnson against freshman goalie Ashleigh Lawry at the 1:43 mark of the frame. Johnson's assist was the first of her collegiate career, as she was primarily the backup goalie for her last two seasons as an Eagle. Lawry, who played the entire second half, allowed just that one goal while making two saves in relief of Schiavone.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • Niky Johnson's assist on Jessica Krupnikoff's goal was her first of the season as well as the first of her collegiate career -- Johnson spent the first two years at Post University primarily as a goalie
  • Looking to break the all-time record for most Division II goals in a season, Ella Royer had a team-high seven goals to go along with her two assists and nine points on the day
  • This is the fourth time this season in which Post University has been held to one goal or less, getting shut out once against Georgian Court University last Saturday
  • Post University falls to 0-18 all-time against Wilmington University and has now allowed 20-plus goals in the last four head-to-head matchups since 2022

WHO'S NEXT
