HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Post University 0, Southern Connecticut State University 12 (6 Innings)
Graduate right-hander
Katelyn Lipsky got the ball for her first start as an Eagle, having a strong first four innings before the Southern Connecticut offense started to come to life against her. Up to that point, Lipsky had allowed one run (unearned) on three hits after a throwing error by senior infielder
Brooke Dickenson extended the third inning and led to freshman catcher Sophia Angiolini's RBI single immediately afterwards.
Six runs would come across the plate against Lipsky in the fifth inning off an RBI triple by sophomore utility player Karley Austin and RBI double from freshman infielder Izzy Ingersoll with one out in the frame. Two straight singles by graduate outfielder Rachel Miller and sophomore utility player Olivia Young extended the Owl lead to five runs before a fly ball to center by senior utility player Dominique DeLutri popped out of freshman outfielder
Isabella Oliver's glove and went over the fence for two more runs via the home run.
Senior right-hander
Alyssa Hughes would come in to finish off the fifth before Southern Connecticut plated five more runs in the sixth to put them in mercy rule territory with more than an eight-run lead after five innings, leading 12-0. Lewis would proceed to finish off her second no hitter of the season with seven strikeouts and a walk, falling just short of a perfect game due to the walk she allowed to freshman utility player
Meghan McGurk.
Game 2: Post University 7, Southern Connecticut State University 23 (5 Innings)
The bats of the Owls continued to stay hot from the end of game one into game two, striking for 23 runs across the first four innings to pace themselves to a five-inning mercy rule with a 23-7 win. Eight of the nine starters for Southern Connecticut recorded hits in the victory with the top three hitters in Ingersoll, Young, and sophomore infielder Nicole Spinelli all recording three hits and driving in three RBIs each.
The top third of the Owl lineup finished the game 9-for-11 with four doubles, a home run, nine RBIs, and nine runs scored while senior infielder Nadia Cestari also recorded a three-hit game, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Also driving in three runs was freshman infielder Cassidy Sullivan at the bottom of the order with a 2-for-4 day which included a double and two runs scored.
Trailing by 20 runs, 23-3, Post would get four back in the bottom of the fourth inning as sophomore utility player
Allysa Calabrese drove home her second run of the game, finishing 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs, and a walk. Freshman first baseman
Alexandra Bisceglia preceded Calabrese with her first collegiate hit and runs scored with a two-RBI double while freshman outfielder
Hannah Searles drove in the other run via an error at third by Sullivan.
