HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Post University 0, University of Bridgeport 8 (5 Innings)
Sophomore right-hander
Allysa Calabrese looked to continue her hot start on the mound for the Eagles after throwing 10 innings last week in which she allowed just one run on two hits. However, the Purple Knight offense would tag her for eight runs on 13 hits with two strikeouts and two walks, handing the sophomore her first loss of the season in a five-inning win by way of the eight-run mercy rule, 8-0.
Junior pitcher Vise Zarate put together her sixth win of the season for Bridgeport, throwing five shutout innings in which she allowed just three hits while striking out five and walking three in game one. Freshman utility player
Hannah Searles notched her second collegiate hit while senior infielder
Brooke Dickenson walked twice, senior third baseman
Nyla Sapia picked up a hit, and so did Calabrese in the loss for Post.
Junior infielder Mya Jones led the Purple Knights with a 2-for-3 performance, including a two-run home run, three RBIs, and a run scored, while senior infielder Madison D'Amato was 1-for-2 with a double, two RBIs, two runs scored, and a walk. Junior outfielder Emily Chase was the only other multi-RBI player for Bridgeport with her 2-for-3 day, driving in two runs while scoring twice herself as four different Purple Knight players finished with multi-hit games.

Game 2: Post University 0, University of Bridgeport 13 (5 Innings)
Freshman pitcher Tanya Sanchez threw four innings of no-hit ball for Bridgeport in game two, allowing only three baserunners to reach via the walk while striking out one before being lifted for freshman pitcher Hailey Smith in the fifth.
Brooke Dickenson would provide the first hit of the game for the Eagles in the fifth with her infield single while freshman outfielder
Leah Marrero also recorded a single, giving Post two for the game before Smith would get freshman outfielder
Isabella Oliver to ground into a game-ending fielder's choice.
By way of the eight-run mercy rule again, the Purple Knights took care of business in five innings after the offense exploded for 13 runs on 15 hits against sophomore left-hander
Devin Barnett and senior right-hander
Alyssa Hughes across their combined four innings of work. Four different players for Bridgeport finished game two with home runs, including a pinch-hit three-run home run from senior outfielder Alex Hughes in the third inning.
Most of the offense for Bridgeport came in the third inning to the tune of seven runs on 10 hits as D'Amato doubled home two, Alex Hughes hit her three-run home run, and both Jones and sophomore outfielder Sydnee Perreault had RBI singles. Senior catcher Charlee Horton capped off the scoring for the Purple Knights in the fourth with her two-run home run as Bridgeport rolled to the doubleheader sweep with the 13-0 win.
