HOW IT HAPPENED
Graduate right-hander
Katelyn Lipsky suffered her fourth loss of the season on the mound for Post in what was one of her best outings on the young season. Lipsky would manufacture eight strikeouts to just three walks and while she would be on the hook for all 10 runs that the Hawks scored, six of those would be unearned due to errors in the field by the Eagle defense. Committing two more errors in their second game of the day, Post has a total of 19 errors so far this season, leading to 20 unearned runs and a .901 fielding percentage as a team.
Junior outfielder Rose Reitmeyer gave the Hawks an early 1-0 lead on her RBI single before the bats went cold until the fourth inning as Ryan stifled Post to keep them scoreless in the affair. In her fifth win of the season for Saint Anselm, the sophomore allowed just two hits in seven innings with three strikeouts and one walk with one of those hits being to sophomore utility player
Allysa Calabrese, who extended her on-base streak to seven straight games in the loss.
Senior first baseman Sam Wiberg made it a two-run game in the fourth with two outs on her RBI base knock before senior third baseman
Nyla Sapia's error at third allowed the inning to continue, resulting in a run on that error as well as two more via an RBI single from senior catcher Alyssa Wironen and walk issued to junior outfielder Lily Mason, making it a 5-0 game.
Saint Anselm continued to chip across runs over the course of the next three innings to the tune of four total runs, giving them their 10-0 lead and shutout win behind Ryan's gem. As a team, Post has been held to two hits or less now in four games as well as shut out four times in eight games while the pitching has a combined earned run average of 10.89 in the early part of the season.
