VIERA, Fla. – Senior infielder Bailey Dickenson and freshman utility player Alexandra Bisceglia each picked up two hits apiece in the Space Coast Games opener for Post University Softball on Friday morning against the University of New Haven, but the comeback for the Eagles would fall just short as they dropped their fifth straight game to start the season with a 6-4 loss to the Chargers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Graduate right-hander Katelyn Lipsky got the start on the mound for the Eagles in their first game of the trip, going the distance while allowing six runs (four earned) on eight hits with a season-high five strikeouts to go along with four walks, falling to 0-3 on the season. A committee of arms would throw for the Chargers after junior right-hander Skylar Griffin got the start for the first three innings in which she allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits with four strikeouts and three walks of her own, getting her first win of the season to move to 1-3 on the year.
For the first time this season, it was the Eagles in front first as an RBI double in the first by Bailey Dickenson gave Post a 1-0 edge on New Haven before the Chargers answered back with two of their own against Lipsky in the bottom half of the frame via a ground out by sophomore catcher Brianna Trueman and an RBI single from sophomore third baseman Emily Ricci to take back a one-run lead, 2-1.
Bisceglia's RBI double would briefly tie the game back up at two-all in the third inning before Trueman unleashed a three-run shot off of Lipsky in the bottom of the inning to give New Haven the lead for good. Trueman would finish the game 2-for-4 with that home run, a double, four RBIs, and a run scored. Adding some insurance, junior utility player Gianna Depino's sacrifice fly gave the Chargers a four-run lead, 6-2, after three innings while Post would look to mount a comeback.
Over the next two innings, the Eagles would get two runs back on a Bailey Dickenson ground out and a double steal in the fifth by junior catcher Brianna Hynds, cutting their deficit in half to two, 6-4, with still two innings of action to play. In the seventh, back-to-back walks issued by junior right-hander Marzia Johnson, led to the winning run coming to the plate in freshman outfielder Isabella Oliver. However, she would be shut down by freshman right-hander Katie Rhodes, who got her to hit into a game-ending flyout as Rhodes picked up her first collegiate save while sending the Eagles to their fifth straight loss, 6-4.
