SHELTON, Conn. – In hopes of avenging their loss last night on the road, Post University Women's Ice Hockey returned to home ice against Stonehill College in the Sports Center of Connecticut on Saturday afternoon, but would be stonewalled by junior goalie Eve Stone.
Making all 24 stops in net and helped out by the lone goal of the day by junior forward Brianna Walkom, Stone and the Skyhawks made it six unanswered goals for the entire weekend with their 1-0 victory to sweep through the Eagles with the regular season winding down.

HOW IT HAPPENED
While both teams would have power-play opportunities in the first period, neither side would be able to convert on it as it was a day for the goaltenders as Stone and junior goalie
Hannah Saunders on Saturday afternoon. Similar to last night, Stone would only face four shots in the first period, but this time she would make all four saves to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard.
The Eagles would have no shots on their lone power-play chance of the first while Stonehill had two man advantages in which they manufactured three total shots against Saunders, who had 12 saves to start the game, as the game remained scoreless heading into the second.
That second period would be where Walkom scored the only goal of the day as junior forward Mia Kenmore and freshman defenseman Reagan Whynot teamed up to help the junior score her first goal of the season just over halfway through the frame. The rush down the ice would cause the goal to come off the pegs, but it was ruled that the puck crossed the line before that happened, leading to the 1-0 lead for the Skyhawks.
Saunders would stand tall the rest of the way, needing just 12 saves over the final two periods, including only five saves in the third while Stonehill's two second-period power plays were quelled as part of a perfect 4-for-4 penalty kill afternoon for the Eagles. Meanwhile, Stone on the other end of the ice stopped 20 shots over the last 40 minutes of action, keeping Post at bay despite three second-period power plays and another with time winding down in the third.
With 2:51 left in regulation, junior forward Gracie Sacca took a two-minute penalty for cross-checking, leading to Saunders coming off the ice for essentially the final two minutes of the game. Rifling five shots in the direction of Stone, two would be blocked by the Skyhawk defense while a shot each from senior forward
Julia Wysocki and junior forward
Tristan Currie went wide. Out of the five total shots the Eagles would manufacture on the power play, only one would reach the net in Currie's shot with 59 seconds left before the timeout by Post.
Across those final 59 seconds, Stone would come up with one more save against sophomore forward
Noa Farberman while the two other shots taken by senior defenseman
Caisey Van Den Oetelaar were blocked, helping Stonehill stave off a late push from Post and sweep the weekend with a 1-0 road win.
