EAST MEADOW, N.Y. -- While the final result may not have been what Post University Women's Ice Hockey hoped for on Thursday afternoon against LIU, history was made two-fold by senior forward
Julia Wysocki in the 5-3 loss. Scoring her 15th and 16th goals in the third period in a comeback that fell just short, Wysocki became the program's single-season leader for goals after surpassing Jenna Abeyta's 2019-20 record of 15 goals and in scoring twice, registered her 30th career goal which passed Abeyta's career goal mark of 28 goals. Earlier this season, Wysocki became the all-time leader in points, also beating out Abeyta in that category, and sits at 51 points with at minimum five games left in the season.
There is still more history books for the senior to re-write as well, Wysocki sits tied with Kendall Fitzgerald for most career assists with 21 and, at 24 points this season, is just one away from tying Abeyta's single-season point record set during the 2019-20 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sophomore forward
Macy Peterson got the Eagles on the board just over halfway through the first period with the help of fellow sophomore forwards
Jodie Rose and
Noa Farberman to give Post the early 1-0 advantage, a position they have been in each of the last four times they have faced the Sharks. But like those other four times, the momentum would be short-lived as LIU answered back, this time with two goals in the first to regain the lead after 20 minutes.
Part of her three-assist afternoon, senior forward Jeannie Wallner helped sophomore defenseman Sam Mathe beat junior goalie
Hannah Saunders with under four minutes to go to tie the game up at one. Then, with the senior's help again, sophomore forward Grace Babington beat Saunders with inside of a minute left in the first, sending LIU into the locker room ahead by one, 2-1.
A scoreless second would see both sides get a power-play chance, but nothing would come of either. Both Saunders and graduate goalie Abbie Thompson kept the score at 2-1, with the Eagles' netminder making seven saves compared to 12 for the Shark in net. Graduate forward Sarah Rourke would score two goals, including one on the power play, to help LIU get some breathing room with a three-goal lead, 4-1, and still, 14:56 to play in regulation.
Saunders would end up being pulled for junior goalie
Hali Lawrence following that fourth goal, making her first appearance in a game since November 26th, 2024. Answering back was Wysocki, who on her way to program history, also helped Post cut their deficit back down to one with back-to-back goals of her own, which included one on the power play, with just over eight minutes left.
However, the comeback would come up short as before the Eagles were able to gain an extra attacker by pulling Lawrence from the net, she would allow a goal to junior forward Anya Weilandt with 1:12 left in the game. That would be all the Sharks needed to close out the game, taking their 17th matchup against Post in the all-time series by a 5-3 final. In her relief appearance, Lawrence made seven saves, while across all three periods, Thompson stopped 19 shots, including just two in the final period.
