MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – About 14 hours after concluding their doubleheader against Queens College last night, Post University Baseball was back on the field bright and early on Sunday morning for their Myrtle Beach finale against Molloy University, who entered the game ranked 22nd nationally in the latest NCBWA National Poll as well as second in the NCBWA East Region Preseason Poll. In search of their first win of the season, the Eagles were unable to overcome a pair of three-run innings by the Lions, seeing their losing streak extend to five straight games to start the season and seven consecutive games overall, falling 8-3 to Molloy.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Graduate right-hander
Matt Semon got the brief start for the Eagles, going two scoreless innings in which he allowed no hits while striking out two batters, walked one, and hit one on 22 pitches before being lifted for junior right-hander
Harby Valera. Against Valera and the rest of the Post bullpen, the Lions would go to work to register eight runs across the next six innings en route to their victory. Combined between the three relievers, the bullpen for the Eagles gave up eight runs on 14 hits with three strikeouts, two walks, two balks, and a wild pitch. ]
Sophomore right-hander James Sill had a near-perfect start for Molloy in his six innings of work, allowing one unearned run on four hits while manufacturing nine strikeouts and allowing just two walks. Sophomore catcher

Sophomore outfielder Joe Burriesci had a 3-for-5 day in the leadoff spot for the Lions, scoring twice, while the heart of the lineup did the run-scoring damage with the two through four hitters in sophomore infielder Brian Sanchez, graduate infielder Aidan Larkin, and junior infielder Sean Welsh all driving in two runs each. The trio combined to go 6-for-12 at the plate, recording two hits each while accounting for six RBIs, three runs scored, a walk, and no strikeouts.

Ben Major recorded his first collegiate hit for Post as well as his first run batted in with his RBI double in the eighth after coming in to pinch hit for graduate outfielder
Damaurys Rodriguez. All seven hits for the Eagles were scattered across seven different players while sophomore infielder
Jesse Alfalla reached base the most out of any Post player with three walks in the 8-3 loss.
As a team, Post closed out the trip batting .279 as a team with 21 runs on 48 hits, including 14 extra-base knocks to the tune of 13 doubles and a home run. In the field, they had six errors, including two today, while across 42 innings pitched they would allow 42 runs (40 earned) on 54 hits for an 8.57 earned run average to finish the five-game swing.

- Hayden Roberge closes out the Myrtle Beach trip with a team-leading six hits in 17 at-bats in which he had four runs scored, three walks, two doubles, and one RBI in the five games

Post University has the week off before they take on Bentley University in a weekend doubleheader next Saturday afternoon starting at 12:00 PM on the road. The two teams have only faced each other once in their program histories back in 2022 when the Falcons came out on top down in Lake Worth, Florida by a 12-7 final score.
