Peric and Groves Named First Team All-East Region for D2CCA and AVCA, Peric Named D2CCA East Region Player of the Year for First Time in Women's Volleyball History

WATERBURY, Conn. -- For the first time in program history, Post University Women's Volleyball has two D2CCA and AVCA All-East Region First Team honorees, as well as the D2CCA East Region Player of the Year, as graduate outside hitter Kristina Peric was named the D2CCA East Region Player of the Year and a First Teamer for both D2CCA and AVCA. Joining her was senior libero Alyssa Groves, who earned her second consecutive D2CCA and AVCA All-East Region First Team nod as announced by the organizations on Wednesday afternoon.

Ahead of their first regional appearance in nine years against AIC on Thursday night at 7:00 PM on Bentley University's campus, the duo continues to make tidal waves in the history books for the Eagles, after Peric was named CACC Player of the Year and Groves notched her second straight CACC Defensive Player of the Year, while both players were First Team All-Conference.

Groves finished the regular season with 664 digs, breaking the 2,000 mark earlier this season, and then became the conference's all-time leader in digs for a career after her performance against Jefferson University in the CACC Quarterfinals last night. The senior averaged 5.93 digs per set in 28 regular-season matches, which featured 112 sets, while tacking on 114 assists, 61 service aces, and five kills.

Peric currently leads the nation in attacks per set (14.54), kills per set (5.32), points per set (5.85), total attacks (1,614), and total kills (590). Within the CACC, she ranks ninth in total digs (305), 10th in digs per set (2.75), and maintains a .232 attack percentage. She registered 15 double-doubles, combo of kills and digs, with double-figure kills in 27 matches, and double-figure digs in 16 matches. The Belgrade native notched two 30+ kill performances, including a season-high 37 kills on November 9, and three matches with 20+ digs, highlighted by a season-best 24 on September 11.
