HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior goalie
Benjamin Cunneen made 37 saves across his three periods of action for Post, including 12 in the first and 16 in the third. The Eagles were outshot 41-25 overall in the game, including 13-5 in the first frame and getting doubled up in the third frame, 18-9, in the loss.
Junior defenseman David Lawler opened the scoring for the Greyhounds in the first with the help of senior forward Thomas McGaffigan and freshman forward Ben Moalusi to put Assumption ahead by one just under eight minutes into the contest. Senior forward Jamison Alicandro would extend that lead before the end of the second, capitalizing on a Post turnover during one of their three power plays in the contest, doubling up the Eagles heading into the third.
Despite what would be a 4-0 loss for Post, they would go a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill and are now 8-for-8 on the season with a man down. After going 3-for-6 against WestConn on the man-up advantage, the Eagles finished the night 0-for-3 in such situations, while Alicandro closed with two goals and McGaffigan had two assists for the Greyhounds as the only two players with multi-point games.
