Canady Nets Second of the Season for Men's Ice Hockey in 4-1 Loss to Arcadia University

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Sophomore defenseman Aidan Canady scored his second goal of the season for Post University Men's Ice Hockey in the opening period of a two-game weekend for the Eagles on the road against Arcadia University, which began on Saturday afternoon. However, the Knights would respond with four unanswered goals, including three in the third period, to best Post in the first-ever matchup between the two programs, 4-1.

THE BASICS

Post University 1, Arcadia University 4

Post University (2-4-1)

Arcadia University (3-4-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior forward Cody Mastay had a big day offensively for Arcadia with three points, assisting on three of the four goals the Knights had between the second and third periods during their stretch of four unanswered goals. But before that, it was Canady getting the Eagles on the board with a 1-0 lead just over 15 minutes in the first as senior forward Matteo Peca set the sophomore up for the shot that got by freshman goalie Ryan Crowshaw, who was making his collegiate debut in between the pipes for the Knights.

After allowing that goal to Canady, Crowshaw would impress the rest of the way, stopping a total of 34 shots from the Eagles, which included a 16-save first period, before only facing 17 shots on net the rest of the way. Post would have four power-play opportunities against the Connecticut native, but go 0-for-4 with seven shots against him while senior defenseman Connor Williams tied the game up at one in the second with his goal, sending the teams to the third all tied up at one.

That would be when the Knights broke away for the three-goal victory, 4-1, with all three goals coming in the final four-plus minutes of the frame, starting with junior forward Bryce Battaglia's score with 4:38 remaining in regulation. With just over two minutes left and senior goalie Benjamin Cunneen pulled from the net, Crowshaw flicked a shot from behind his own goal mouth, hitting the back of the net for a goalie goal in his first collegiate game, which extended the Arcadia lead to two. Cunneen would make 36 saves, allowing three goals along the way, including one to junior forward Jude Cole with just over a minute left in the game, capping off the offensive explosion for the Knights in their come-from-behind victory, snapping a four-game losing streak.
