RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Graduate setter
Alice DiFrancesco recorded her 18th double-double of the season for Post University Women's Volleyball as the Eagles bounced back from Sunday's five-set loss against Holy Family University and losing the first set of Wednesday night's road matchup with Felician University to win their 23rd match overall and 12th match in conference play in four sets, 3-1.
THE BASICS
Post University 3, Felician University 1
Post University (23-4, 12-1 CACC)
Felician University (10-18, 6-8 CACC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Graduate outside hitter
Kristina Peric had her 14th match of the season, in which she had toppled 20 kills, finishing with 23 in the match after her conference record-tying performance against the Tigers on Sunday, in which she had 37 kills. Peric attacked at a .179 clip, finishing with a double-double as well with 14 digs, as she was one of three Post players to finish with double figures in digs.
Alongside here was DiFrancesco en route to her double-double as she led the team with 34 assists and 11 digs, while senior libero
Alyssa Groves tallied a team-high 23 digs, moving herself 34 digs away from the CACC's career digs all-time record by Regina Trabosh of Chestnut Hill College, as well as five service aces. While Peric was the only Eagle to finish with double-digit kills, junior middle blocker
Nuri Shahid-Stevenson attacked at a .455 clip with six kills on 11 attempts with only one error.
As a team, Post finished with only a .127 attack percentage, dropping the first set, 25-23, with a .118 percentage, after leading by six points, 21-15. Despite finishing with a game-worst .020 attack percentage in set two, recording 12 kills and 11 errors, the Eagles would knot the match up at one set apiece with a 25-21 win. The best set of the night for the Eagles would also be their most dominant, winning set three by a 25-13 score with a .200 attack percentage, before going on to finish off the win in set four, 25-22, attacking at the same mark.
The attack struggles were not limited to the Eagles either, as Felician closed the match with a .047 attack percentage, including a second set where they finished in the negatives with a -.064 percentage via six kills to nine errors. Sophomore outside hitter Sandra Galas led the Golden Falcons with 12 kills, but had 10 errors, limiting her attack percentage to only .044 on the day. Junior libero Kayden Mallette led all Golden Falcons with 24 digs defensively, while the assists were split up between junior setter Sophina Watterson with 13 and freshman setter Caydence Franz with 11.
With Wilmington University dropping their match against Jefferson University in three sets before Post came away with the victory, the Eagles found out their CACC Quarterfinals matchup as the Rams were locked in at the fourth seed in the South Division with the win, as Georgian Court University cannot catch them with one match remaining in the regular season. The two teams will be in the Drubner Center on November 18th at 6:00 PM after meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, earlier this year, where Post came away with the five-set win, 3-2, losing set one before taking sets two and three, while the Rams won the fourth set to force that decisive final frame.
