HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior forward
Rylee Patfield wasted no time getting the Eagles on the scoreboard first in the affair, scoring unassisted just 2:20 into the first period, pushing the weekend streak to six consecutive goals scored by Post against the Purple Knights. Scoring for the second time in as many days, junior defenseman
Emma Hoen made that streak seven against sophomore goalie McKenna Dans, who got the start in net for Saint Michael's College.
Dans played in net last night, making 32 saves and allowing three goals as she did this afternoon against Post, while staving off another 44 shots that she faced from the Eagle offense. Finally breaking through for the Purple Knights, junior forward Isabel Goolie scored only 1:43 after Hoen's goal, breaking senior goalie Hannah Saunder's weekend shutout streak and the seven consecutive goal streak the Eagles had going, with the help of sophomore forward Audrey Hetman and sophomore forward Brianna Jarvis.
Tying the game up at two all in the second, freshman forward Kali Boychuk got the hook up from freshman forward Kyler Weatherred for the equalizer with 4:45 left in the frame, before the offense went quiet until the third when Cameron struck for the game-winning goal. Along the way to Post's win, Saunders ended with 19 saves, totaling up 53 saves for the weekend with a pair of victories, while Cameron's winner came from freshmen forwards
Kai Hyatt and
Georgia Stevens in the 3-2 win.
