Trick or Tully! Women's Ice Hockey Dishes Out Treats in Halloween Win at Saint Michael's

COLCHESTER, Vt. –  It was a Halloween night full of treats for Post University Women's Ice Hockey in their return to conference play on Friday against Saint Michael's College on the road. Five different players recorded a goal, in the highest offensive output of the season for the Eagles, while seven players recorded at least one assist to help Post shut out the Purple Knights, 5-0, moving to 2-2-1 in conference play.

THE BASICS

Post University 5, Saint Michael's College 0

Post University (2-8-1, 2-2-1 NEWHA)

Saint Michael's College (1-7-0, 1-6-0 NEWHA)

HOW IT HAPPENED
On only her second collegiate shot, freshman forward Peyton Tully became the latest newcomer to score her first collegiate goal, starting the scoring for the Eagles in the first period, who had two goals, which would knock out senior goalie Annika Lavender from the game. Lavender closed with 16 first-period saves before being lifted for sophomore goalie McKenna Dans the rest of the way. Dans would be responsible for three goals over the final two periods, making 32 saves in the process, as both Purple Knights goalies combined to make 48 total saves in the affair.

In all, Post would go on the power play four times, scoring once, in the first period with sophomore defenseman Caryss Kehl's goal, which started a stretch of two consecutive goals with an assist by junior forward Jodie Rose, who finished with two assists on the night. Junior defenseman Emma Hoen also had a big night for the Eagles, adding a goal and an assist with six total shots on goal and a +3.

As a team, the Eagle offense manufactured 53 total shots on goal and multi-point games from three different players, including Rose (two assists), Hoen (goal and assist), and freshman forward Georgia Stevens (goal and assist). Senior forward Tymmarie Grom, who played in her 120th consecutive game, moving three away from setting the program's consecutive games played record, also had a goal in the victory.

Senior goalie Hannah Saunders recorded her first shutout of the season, making all 34 saves, including 17 in the third period alone, after facing that many shots over the course of the first 40 minutes of action. Saunders now has a program-record 12 shutouts in her career, four of which have come against Saint Michael's.

For Post, this was their largest margin of victory since beating the Purple Knights on February 19th, 2022, in Colchester, Vermont, by a 6-0 score, while the five goals scored were the most since they hung seven on Saint Michael's back on January 10th, 2023, in a 7-3 win.
