WATERBURY, Conn. – The unbeaten streak for Post University Men's Soccer continues as the Eagles struck twice in the first half, including the first goal of junior midfielder
Beau Pomeroy's career with Post, to lead the Eagles to their fifth conference win of the season, 2-0, over Caldwell University at home on Wednesday afternoon.
The win puts Post firmly in position for one of the top two seeds in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament in a couple of weeks, leading the University of Bridgeport by five points, with the Purple Knights having a match in hand. Those two teams tied their matchup the other week in Bridgeport, 2-2, and the only other team that can catch the Eagles in Jefferson University does not have the head-to-head tiebreaker, as the Eagles beat them earlier this season, 1-0, on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Scoring its fastest goal of the season, it would take only 1:28 for the Eagles to get on the scoreboard with graduate midfielder
Pablo Tenorio's fourth goal in the last three matches. Tenorio has scored in three consecutive matches now, bringing his season total to five goals on the year in only 10 matches played.
Senior midfielder
Lukas Glade got the run started down the left side of the pitch before hitting senior forward
Matheus Milagres with the pass farther ahead. Milagres' cross pass into the box was gently tapped off the foot of Tenorio and by junior goalkeeper Justin Talbot to give Post its quick 1-0 lead.
All would be quiet for the next 34 minutes until Pomeroy struck for his first goal as an Eagle in the 36th minute. With the help of Milagres and senior forward
Mohammad Sanyang, Pomeroy slipped behind the defense in the box for the quick second goal, while the Cougars looked for an offsides call on the play. Post would head into the half with that two-goal lead, which would hold up for the remainder of the affair.
Despite the 2-0 score, the numbers for both teams would be relatively even, with Post holding only a narrow 14-12 edge in overall shots and a 7-4 lead in shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper
Leopold Dufaut earned his fifth shutout of the season, stopping all four shots he faced from the Cougars, while Talbot made five stops on seven attempts from the Eagles, who avenged their 2-1 road loss to Caldwell from last season.
