HOW IT HAPPENED
On the evening, Post was out shot by a 72-30 margin overall, blocking nine of those shots, while seeing 46 of them go on target at Amundson compared to just 13 shots reaching Loranger in net for them. Having three power-play opportunities in the affair, the Eagles would manage just two shots on goal in that span against the senior netminder, including a third-period attempt that saw them get held to no shots in the latter half of the frame.
Freshman forward Violet Carroll recorded assists on both of the Holy Cross goals as the Crusaders struck first in the first period on a goal from freshman forward Naemi Herzig with 8:28 left. Herzig found a way to jam the puck by Amundson's right pad on the right side of the goal as the sophomore looked to seal the opening to the net in that spot, but was unable to do so. In addition to the assist from Carroll, sophomore defenseman Skyler Sharfman picked up a secondary assist on the play.
Senior forward Alexia Moreau would add to the lead in the third on her redirect past Amundson with 3:55 left in regulation when the shot from the point by freshman defenseman Anna Billa bounced off her stick and changed direction for the score. Carroll was credited with the secondary assist on the goal, which came minutes after junior forward
Jet Devlin narrowly missed on a two-on-one opportunity against Loranger as the rebound could not be handled by sophomore defenseman
Caryss Kehl for the put back shot that would have knotted the game at one.
With the 2-0 loss, Post suffered their fifth shutout loss of the season, tying its number of shutout losses from last year, and falling to 1-7-1 to start the year.
