Aryn Nisbet Makes 10 Saves, Women's Soccer Falls to Bridgeport, 3-0

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. –  Junior goalkeeper Aryn Nisbet made 10 saves in net for Post University Women's Soccer on Wednesday night as the Eagles dropped their 10th match of the season, 3-0, to the University of Bridgeport. Entering the night, the Purple Knights owned the final spot in the CACC Tournament with seven points, five ahead of Post, a lead that has now expanded to eight points with four matches left.

Down the stretch, the Eagles will face Chestnut Hill College on the road before a pair of home games against Caldwell University and Georgian Court University next week, culminating in the regular season finale on the road against Lincoln. Post will have to win at least three of those matches to have a chance at the eighth seed in the conference tournament in a few weeks.

Post University (0-10-2, 0-5-2 CACC)

University of Bridgeport (3-6-4, 3-4-1 CACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bridgeport defense held the Post offense in check, allowing no shots on goal or in general across the 90 minutes of action, marking the first time since August 30th, 2018, in which the Eagles have encountered the situation when they were shut out, 2-0, against Pace University on the road. Nisbet would make 10 saves on 13 shots for Post, bringing her season total up to 82 saves, while recording her fourth double-digit save match this year.

Three different Purple Knights would find the back of the net against Nisbet, two of whom scored less than 10 minutes apart in the first half. With the help of sophomore midfielder Lily Rodriguez, fellow sophomore midfielder Angelina Ledesma scored the opening goal of the match in the 21st minute, before Rodriguez herself scored in the 30th minute from sophomore midfielder Manuela Macedo. After the first half, Bridgeport held a 14-0 lead in shots and a 7-0 lead in shots on goal.

Freshman midfielder Kamila Bono tallied the final goal of the evening for the Purple Knights in the 79th minute, while junior defender Marit Blom, who was making her second collegiate start in goal, did not face a shot. Bridgeport finished the match outshooting Post, 32-0 overall and 13-0 in shots on goal, manufacturing 13 corner kicks while holding the Eagles to zero.
