SHELTON, Conn. – Senior forward
Julia Wysocki continued her career year for Post University Women's Ice Hockey, scoring two goals and bringing her total for the season up to eight, a new single-season high, as the Eagles shrugged off last week's sweep by RIT with a 3-1 conference win over Saint Michael's College on Friday night. Sophomore forward
Noa Farberman netted the go-ahead goal just over five minutes into the third, giving Post a 2-1 lead before Wysocki sealed it with an empty netter with under 20 seconds to go in regulation.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Penalties would be the story of the first period primarily for the Eagles and senior forward
Hannah Luckman who earned a pair of tripping calls as part of three power-play opportunities for the Purple Knights in the opening frame. Post would also have a man-up advantage of their own that they would be unable to convert on while doubling up Saint Michael's in shots on goal by a 12-6 margin in what would be a scoreless first 20 minutes between junior goalie
Hannah Saunders and freshman goalie Jordana DeMarinis.
Coming out with a head of steam in the second period, the Post offense controlled the puck for a majority of the frame behind a 30-9 drubbing in total shots and 19-4 edge in shots on goal. But despite only having four shots against Saunders, senior forward Angelina Ruiz would convert in the crease with the help of graduate forward Mary Leys with only just over 6 ½ minutes remaining in the period. The Eagle bench would look for a goaltender interference call as Ruiz made contact with Saunders in the crease, but the officials upheld the goal, giving the Purple Knights what would be a short-lived 1-0 lead.
Less than two minutes after that Saint Michael's goal, Wysocki beat DeMarinis, going five-hole with her shot following a coast-to-coast skate by freshman forward
Rowyn Ringor. Going from behind her own net to the offensive zone, Ringor threw the puck from near the end line to Wysocki who converted, sending the teams into the third tied at one all.
On what would end up being the game-winning goal during a Post power play, a pass towards sophomore forward
Macy Peterson in the middle of the zone found the stick once more of sophomore defenseman
Jodie Rose in the corner of the ice. Wheeling back towards the circle, Rose located Farberman at the top of the zone with a pass and her shot would ricochet off the stick of junior forward Lauren Fisher.
That ricochet would move DeMarinis slightly out of position in net as the puck bounced over her stick and into the back of the goal mouth, giving the Eagles a 2-1 lead with 14:48 left in regulation. While the Eagles would be forced to kill off a roughing penalty issued to sophomore forward
Celena Mickevicius in the latter half of the period, their penalty kill ended up going a perfect 4-for-4 by the end of the night while holding the Purple Knights to no shots in eight total penalty minutes.
Closing in on the final seconds, a defensive zone turnover by Saint Michael's found the stick of Wysocki in space leading to the empty netter and her second goal of the game to send Post to a 3-1 victory while Saunders picked up her fourth win of the season in net after stopping 15 of the 16 shots she faced from the Purple Knights.
