HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1: Post University 0, Franklin Pierce University 8 (5 Innings)
All eight of the Ravens runs came in the second and third inning against freshman left-hander Devin Barnett, putting Franklin Pierce in position for the five-inning mercy rule with an eight-run lead. Freshman infielder Charlit Hartenstein hit a pair of sacrifice flies in both innings and junior outfielder Bella Williams had an RBI double and single in both innings as well to score three more runs for the home team.

Williams finished game one with a 3-for-3 performance, having driven in those three runs and scoring once herself. Three total Ravens recorded multi-hit games in Williams, junior infielder Lita Vorseth, and sophomore outfielder Amy Jones who each recorded two hits in the win.

It was a tag team effort on the mound for Franklin Pierce as senior right-hander Sabrina Gonzalez pitched the first three innings to get the win after hold the Eagles scoreless while allowing just four hits, getting three strikeouts, and walking two batters. In her place came freshman right-hander Raylee Gilbert for two more scoreless innings in which she allowed no hits and walked three.

Game 2: Post University 2, Franklin Pierce University 7
Once again, Franklin Pierce struck first with four runs in the first inning behind three doubles from senior infielder Haley Bigwood, senior outfielder Ashely Cagiano, and Vorseth along with an RBI sacrifice ground out from Gilbert. Starting in game two for Post was junior right-hander Alyssa Hughes who would settle down after that rough first inning.

Going against a trio of pitchers in the second game, freshman right-hander Georgia Clough would walk four straight Eagles to give them their first run in the second and then a solo home run by senior shortstop Caitlin DeAngelis off Gilbert put Post within two, 4-2, in the third. After threatening for more against Gilbert with two on and one out, the freshman came back to get the last two outs which ended the inning and her appearance.

Three more runs would come across the plate for the Ravens in what would be a 7-2 win for them in a double steal attempt, wild pitch from Hughes, and the third sacrifice fly of the day from Hartenstein. Over the final three innings of play, only two runners would reach base for the Eagles in the form of two walks after having another first and second chance in the fourth inning to get back in the contest.
