WATERBURY, Conn. -- Yesterday afternoon, the College Sports Communicators organization announced their Academic All-District Teams for both Men's and Women's Basketball across all three NCAA Divisions and the NAIA. For Post University Men's Basketball, they would see one player make the team while two from Post University Women's Basketball earned the honor.
Junior forward
Derrick Thomas II was the lone player from the men's side to make the list after appearing in all 31 games for Post while achieving a perfect 4.0 average in the fall. This is Thomas II's first time making it on the All-District Team.
For the women under Head Coach
Courtney Burns in her first season as the head coach, graduate forward
Taina Pagan and graduate guard
TiJanae Simmons both made the list. While Pagan played in 25 games, starting 24 of them, and Simmons played in all 27 games while starting in 18 of them, the duo both also achieved perfect 4.0 GPAs in the fall to make their way on to the All-District Team for the first time at Post.
In order to qualify, student-athletes must compete in 90% of their institution's games/contests/sets played or must start in at least 66% of the games/contests/sets in addition to achieving a high-level of academic success in the classroom by achieving a grade point average (GPA) above a 3.50 for the previous semester while being in at least their second year academically.
