WATERBURY, Conn. -- Stellar performances across the board for Post University Athletics netted them five major weekly awards for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference as well as an Honor Roll recognition for the spring seasons that just got underway. Joe Christiana - Pitcher of the Week - Baseball
Christiana had his best start of the season this week for Post University Baseball against regionally-ranked Queens College on Monday afternoon. Christana helped lead the Eagles to their first shutout win since last year in his start against Bridgeport in April after going seven shutout innings while allowing six hits, striking out 11, and walking two in the 3-0 win for Post.
Chris Corchado - Honor Roll - Baseball
Corchado put together a solid week at the plate for the Eagles, going 6-for-14 with a .429 batting average during a 1-3 week for the Eagles. Corchado hit his first collegiate home run against Barry University over the weekend and had a pair of multi-hit games against the Buccaneers as well. The junior is currently riding a 10-game hitting streak and had one home run, two runs batted in, a run scored, and a walk this week.
Lauren Bain - Goalie of the Week - Women's Lacrosse
Bain earned her second straight win in goal for Post University Women's Lacrosse, holding St. Thomas Aquinas College to just four goals across her 60 minutes of work. Bain was stellar for the Eagles, stopping nine of the 13 shots she faced from the Spartans while also contributing six ground balls to the win.
Tim Keefe - Player of the Week - Men's Lacrosse
Keefe helped lead the Post University Men's Lacrosse offense to a pair of big wins over AIC and St. Thomas Aquinas College this week, getting the Eagles back to .500 on the season. Keefe finished the week with 12 points after scoring six goals and adding six assists while also cleaning up three ground balls and forcing two caused turnovers. However, Keefe's biggest game of this career came in a 21-0 win for Post over the Spartans in which he had five goals and five assists for 10 total points. The 10 points in a game were second-most for a single game in program history as were the five assists.
James Sproul - Defensive Player of the Week - Men's Lacrosse
Sproul played a key role for the Eagles on defense during a week where the Eagles held AIC to seven goals and shut out St. Thomas Aquinas College to go 2-0. Sproul led all Post players with 13 ground balls as well as seven caused turnovers while being part of a defense that held their opponents to just 22 combined shots on goal across 120 minutes of action.
Cole George - Goalie of the Week - Men's Lacrosse
George was nearly impossible to beat in 105 minutes of playing time in net this week for the Eagles. George made 21 saves on 28 attempts against AIC and St. Thomas Aquinas College while allowing just seven goals which all came against the Yellow Jackets. Against the Spartans, George helped Post to their first shutout in program history during his 45 minutes in which he stopped all six shots he faced and also picked up two of his three ground balls of the week.
